NSF Global Animal Wellness Standard Launched at 2019 IPPE


NSF established in 1944 with operations in 175 nations launched the Global Animal Wellness Standard at the 2019 IPPE. The NSF has an affiliation with the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization and is a Collaborating Center on Food Safety, Water Quality and Indoor Environment.

NSF Global Animal Wellness Standards comprise criteria to verify management systems for beef and dairy cattle, poultry and hogs that promote health, productivity and safety. Topics included in the program include:

  • Health and safety

  • Design and maintenance of housing and equipment

  • Provision of feed and water in consistency with the Five Freedoms

  • Management procedures promoting welfare
