White House Easter Egg Roll Scheduled

Apr 14, 2017

Despite a late start, the White House has announced that the Easter Egg Roll, an annual Washington tradition for 138 years, will take place on Easter Monday.

Stephanie Grisham, the White House Communications Director, noted “plans for the Easter Egg Roll are well underway and the White House looks forward to hosting it.”

The Annual Easter Egg Roll is an important promotional opportunity for the AEB.

Anne Alonzo president and CEO of the AEB stated “America’s egg farmers are thrilled to play such an integral part in the event as we have for the past 40 years”

She added “we donate more than 30,000 real hard-boiled eggs half of them dyed and ready for rolling hunting and decorating. The remainder will be EggPops a nutritious egg on a stick. The AEB will provide volunteers with hats and aprons.

During the event AEB Chairman, Jeff Hardin and CEO Anne Alonzo will present the 40th Commemorative Egg on behalf of egg farmers to the White House

It is anticipated that the event will be low-key based on the size of the order for commemorative eggs with approximately half the number ordered compared to 2016. As yet, Congress has not received an allocation of tickets and invitations have not been released to Washington-area public schools and military families.  The Easter Egg Roll is normally attended by over 35,000 with as many as 1,000 volunteers in attendance.
