Meijer to Expand Home Delivery


Meijer will introduce home delivery throughout its six-state presence using Shipt.

Orders can be placed from an inventory of 55,000 items on the Shipt app or from Meijer online.


The Meijer model requires a $99 annual membership fee and orders over $35 in value will be delivered at no charge.  Meijer operated a pilot program in Detroit to evaluate the program and filled more than 65,000 orders over a four-month period.

The home delivery program will commence in Grand Rapids on March 29th with Fort Wayne and Indianapolis, IN to follow.  Ultimately, the service will be extended to all major market in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Wisconsin.

President and CEO of Meijer, Rick Keyes noted, “We are excited to expand our relationship with Shipt because together we can offer customers across the Midwest a whole new level of convenience, product variety and service not available before.”

It is anticipated that the expansion of the delivery service will create thousands of jobs in six states.
