World Food Prices Rising According to UN-FAO

Food deflation appears to be coming to an end according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).  The Agency noted that their Food Price Index rose to 0.2 percent in May  to a level of 172.6 which is ten percent higher than May 2016.

Prices of cereals, vegetable oils, dairy and meat all rose. Intensive aquaculture has restrained price increases for fish in many areas where extensive production has been introduced.

It is anticipated that bountiful supplies of oilseeds will result in stable prices for this class of commodities and that declining demand for meat in China will reduce total world output of protein.
