Food Lion to Upgrade Stores

According to a report in the Progressive Grocer Food Lion, the principal banner owned by Delhaize America a U.S. Division of Royal Ahold-Delhaize Group will upgrade 93 stores in North Carolina as part of their “Easy, Fresh and Affordable” strategy launched in 2014. It is anticipated that the improvements will require an investment of $175 million.

In commenting on the poject, president of Food Lion, Meg Ham stated, “We want to ensure our customers can easily find fresh, quality products to nourish their families at affordable prices every day, delivered with caring, friendly service every time they shop.” Remodeled stores will feature local items, natural and organic products and healthy snack choices.


Food Lion has completed upgrades to 142 stores in Charlotte, NC, 162 in the North Carolina Triangle area and 76 stores in the Wilmington, NC region.

Food Lion operates more than 1,000 store in ten Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states.
