Novozymes and Boehringer Ingelheim Announce Probiotic Collaboration

Apr 1, 2017

Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health, which acquired Merial Animal Health in 2016, and Novozymes announced a strategic collaboration on commercial probiotics for poultry production.

The project will make use of the range of Novozymes probiotics acquired from the acquisition of Pacific Vet Group and will include FloraMax®. Their relationship will build on the products available to Novozymes and the acknowledged expertise and capability of Boehringer Ingelheim/Merial in U. S. hatcheries.

George Heidgerken, Global Head of Livestock at Boehringer Ingelheim stated “Collaborating with Novozymes enables Boehringer Ingelheim to enter an exciting new segment of products to provide alternatives in an environment that is increasingly challenged by antibiotic bans.”

Susanne Palsten Buchardt, Vice President, Animal Health and Nutrition at Novozymes stated “The collaboration is an important step in stabling Novozymes’ capabilities within probiotic and helping poultry producers deliver great quantities of safe affordable protein.”
